Our Story
Nosso Talho was established in 1974 by three Portuguese immigrants—cousins João Rego, Julio Lima, and Francisco Silva. Together, they built a small butcher shop in what is now known as Little Portugal, at 1326 Dundas Street West. From day one, the shop was created for the community, by the community. That spirit is reflected in its name—“O Nosso Talho,” which translates to “Our Butcher Shop.” Built on a simple philosophy—providing exceptional service, a wide selection, and high-quality products at a fair price—Nosso Talho has continued to grow and serve generations of families for over 50 years..

Today, Nosso Talho is proudly known as the place “Where Quality MEATS Value.” With one of the largest full-service meat counters in the GTA, we operate two neighbourhood butcher shops located at 1326 Dundas Street West and 1042 Bloor Street West.
We offer our customers a wide selection of premium-quality meats, including beef, pork, lamb, veal, poultry, and game, carefully sourced and expertly prepared.
Beyond the butcher counter, Nosso Talho features a full-service deli, a curated selection of imported goods from Portugal and South America, fresh local produce, and much more—making us a true one-stop destination for quality and tradition.
In 2013, we expanded with a third retail location in partnership with Food Basics, operating as “Our Butcher Shop” and “Our Seafood Market” inside the Food Basics supermarket at 1070 Major Mackenzie Drive East in Richmond Hill. There, customers will find the same premium meats and seafood, served through full-service counters just like our downtown locations.
Our commitment to quality also extends beyond retail. Since 2009, our wholesale division has been supplying top-quality proteins to many of the GTA’s and Southern Ontario’s favourite restaurants.
